The Latest Eyewear Trends

For nearly 30 years,  a certain organization named Nationwide Vision has made it a priority to help  their patients find eyeglasses that improve their lives by helping them to correct their vision, but in recent years, glasses have become so much more than that. Now there are so many different eyewear options and brands that their patients can choose a pair (or two or three) that reflect their fashion sense and personality.

Working to give you crystal clear vision will always be their number one goal, but they thought they would help out a bit on the fashion side too by profiling designer eyeglasses and some of the latest fashion trends in men’s and women’s eyewear.

Women’s Eyewear Trends

Trends in women’s eyewear can vary by the year or even by the season, and if you’re preparing your wardrobe for fall, they recommend taking a new look at your eyeglasses as well. Designers like Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, and Giorgio Armani are all putting their hats in the ring to offer eyewear as stylish as their clothing lines. Some of the latest trends in designer eyeglasses include:

- Modern Prep: Watercolor inspired frames are all the rage these days, with floral effects that create a ladylike allure that feels just as comfortable with a suit or a sundress.

- Spirited Necessities: You need your glasses every day, but that doesn’t mean that they must be everyday eyewear. Personalities are flaring to the surface with brilliant bold colors like pink, purple, and tangerine in straightforward patterns.

- Enigmatic Perspective: Whether animal inspired or simply plain black or classic tortoiseshell, dark and mysterious will always be in style.

- Throwback Designs: The designs of the 50s, 60s, and 70s are coming back, mostly in browns, reds, and oranges. Defined brow bars and metallic fixture are just a few of the staples of this retro look.

Men’s Eyewear Trends

Like most aspects of fashion, men’s choices are somewhat more limited and subdued than those offered in women’s eyewear, but there is still plenty to choose from.

- Dark and Classic: A refined color scheme, flat tops, and clean lines paired with perforated materials or metal etching give this men’s eyewear trend the feel of a classic look with a modern touch.

- High Energy: Bold colors are in style for men this season as well, with lightweight materials and durability often taking a high priority. Designers like Prada and ProDesign are bringing every color under the rainbow to men’s high-energy eyewear.

- Patterned and Preppy: Designers are taking the classic silhouettes of eyewear from the 60s and 70s and adding striped or plaid prints to them—some subdued, some very bold—to give a new meaning to the idea of geek chic.
