What makes a strong leader?
But voters have to make sorts of judgement every election as they weigh the candidates for the country's top job.
What qualities matter most to us as we head into the voting booth?
Most of the voters like the quality of a politicians who " say what they mean and mean what say". People feel that openly expressing and acting on personal conviction is a very good thing.
Voters also admire the trait of a politician that "never shades the truth". Total honesty is almost always a virtue of course.
Unfailing loyalty to staffs is also very important quality of a politician, yet presidents make a mistake if they try too hard to protect their people. History tends to show that Presidents are weakened and the presidency deminish when they drains their political capital depending valued friends and devoted aides.
Voters also admire politicians that are good looking, but we also forget that notion because they are not all like you and me. They are risks takers, bigtime people who have to calculate every word, every movement, every commitment to figure what effect it might have on the world, nation, and the people standing in front of them.
We have to admire them not because they are good-looking person but because our whole lives somehow depends on them, it can blow up over their one mistake.
These are just some of the qualities that I see voters admire whenever the election comes, so, where does all it leaves us? I think it makes more sense to acknowledge the toughness of the job of a president. I also believe that there is a separate qualities that reveal the most important thing of all: not what a president will do or say from one day to next, but where he or she will lead the country over the long run. The Presidency is not only about one person, it is an act of faith on our part that one human can handle the the job.
